The construction of this section involved more than 300 direct suppliers and 400 direct and indirect workers.

The viaduct is approximately 62 meters long and weighs 750 tonnes, the equivalent of four Boeing 747s.

The structure was assembled on site and then erected on site. Hydraulic pistons were then used to slide the bridge, which sits 10m above the ground, over reinforced cement beams and metal supports approximately 20 meters per day until it reached l desired location.

Once the final work on the deck has been completed, the viaduct will be ready for the start of work on the electrical elements. This should start in the next few months.

The Palermo-Catania project is currently the largest ongoing infrastructure project in Sicily. With trains traveling at speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour, the line will connect the two cities in less than two hours.

Webuild is also working on the Fiumefreddo-Taormina and Taormina-Letojanni sections of the line.
